Bracing for the Leap

Last month, I quit my full-time job with no plans to look for a new one.

Among many reasons, the key was that I no longer felt excited about my work. Interviewing was the last thing I wanted to do at this point, so I figured simply changing the company wouldn't cut it this time.

I read Paul Millerd's The Pathless Path twice this year, and it resonated with me on many levels. It helped me decide to go ahead and see what's next.

I took some time to rest and do nothing, as I thought I needed to recharge. It turned out I wasn't really tired. I was more bored and exhausted because I was not doing what I enjoyed. After two weeks of almost forcing myself to do nothing "productive", I gave in and started catching up on various projects I put off over the last years because there was always something more important to do. It turned out that this "work" energized me.

I could finally spend time on Watermill, digging up old issues and PRs and releasing new versions.

I finished a blog post and started drafts of several others.

I played with several other side projects I wanted to work on for months.

Finally, I set up this website to log what I'm working on or just share some ideas I find interesting.

I do my technical writing on threedots.tech. I looked through my drafts and realized many are on random topics, and I don't have a place to publish them.

So, this is the purpose of The Leap Log: to document my journey of taking the leap out of full-time employment and share my thoughts on any other topics I feel like writing about.
